With the onslaught of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the tourism industry all over the world, including Japan, has suffered a great deal, and Thailand, one of the tourism-oriented countries in Southeast Asia, is no exception. This colloquium will introduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand, the Thai government's response to COVID-19, and Thailand's efforts to revive inbound tourism in the process of getting back to normal travel situation, from the perspective of the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute, which opened its ASEAN-India Regional Office in Thailand this year. The colloquium will also provide hints and perspectives on how Japan can revive inbound tourism in the future, by referring to unique examples of Thai initiatives.
